Cherokee Flats

Cherokee Flats has applied for our Poultry and Rabbit Raiser Exemption through the Illinois Dept of Agriculture in Springfield, IL. With this exemption, Cherokee Flats can sell any rabbit or chicken grown/raised on our farm to the general public as meat and process said animals here on premesis. We have already has someone here from Il Dept of Ag and he will return just before the exemption is granted. This is NOT an inspection but a "just making sure you're doing what you said" kinda thing.

We will also be selling FARM FRESH BROWN EGGS from our free-range chickens beginning early summer. All eggs are $3.50 per doz and if you bring your own carton, you'll get $0.50 off!!! Can't beat that now can ya?! :)

April 2010 we will have a group of Californians processed and ready for sale (we'll have our exeption by then) and in late summer 2010, we'll have chickens as well.

Cherokee Flats has also received our Premesis ID from the Il Dept of Ag!

On Feb 15th (I think that's the date) Check the Il AgriNews for a 2nd article on Cherokee Flats!! The first one was March 15, 2008, under Cody's Rabbit Cave.. we were so excited and honored to have been asked a second time!!

A little about who we are...

We are located in Farmer City, IL, in DeWitt County. We are approx 2.5 hours from Chicago, IL and 2.5 Hours from St. Louis, MO. We are a small rabbitry, Family owned and operated. We specialize in quality Black and Blue Dutch, White Mini Satin, and Black, Broken Black, Blue, Broken Blue, Chocolate, Broken Chocolate (and Lilac when they pop up) Polish. We make every attempt to properly sex babies before they leave CRC however, we can NOT always be 100% accurate. Babies younger than 4 months of age can be VERY difficult to sex and yes, we have been wrong. PLEASE re-sex your babies BEFORE you show them or enter them in ANY fair to help omit the possiblity of being disqualifed from the show due to WRONG SEX. Trust us, it has happened more time than you know and even to us!
